One Should Perform Duties To Claim Rights - What Do You Say?
Human rights are
universal and should be provided to each individual by birth- No matter how
capable the person is to serve the society.
Coming to the term duties, the real significance of duties would
be achieved not by force or putting up conditions but by the dedicated
contribution of the volunteers.
Duties are performed for a better society but before that the
society should make us believe that it belongs to us and respects every
individual.
If I am educated, I get respect in country, and rights are
protecting me at every step - then I become morally obliged to serve my society
and my country.
In such a situation, my duties will not be a burden on me but
would become my habit and reflect love for my country.
We should empower people with rights, the duties will be
performed automatically.
Rights show us the way and provides moral platform. This
platform helps us in performing duties in a better way.
At the same time we cannot separate duties and rights. They
grow together and are for the welfare of the society. Both maintain dignity of
our citizens. The idea that “you perform duty and then claim rights” seems to
be a feudal concept of medieval societies wherein a few people enjoyed
privileges and they acted as the “givers of rights”.
But do we really want such a society wherein we all beg for
rights? No! There should not be anyone as the 'Right Giver'. We all are born as
respectable human beings and it should be maintained. That’s why even our Constitution
makers wholeheartedly showered all the rights, provided we keep in mind the
reasonable restrictions. When we would build up a society with children
enjoying right to education, citizens with right to information, girls with
right to take birth and women with right to safety-there is no doubt a
responsible society would be created. Society would love its people and the
people would love this world.
Coming to the other side, if you justify that One Should Perform Duties To Claim Rights, then you indirectly accept the British rule which was
cruel and gave us right to life in our country only when we provided them the
economic benefits. Do you accept the rule of Dictators who allow you to speak
if you perform the duty of obeying them? Do you accept the Communist government
which gives you freedom of press when you obey to write only in favour of the
government?
If you say that perform duties to claim rights then we are
surely going against the democratic ideology which is accepted as the best form
of government all over the world.
Kindly join hands to create a democratic set up which
believes in empowering the citizens unconditionally. It is because every
political institution or constitution is for the people. People should be
strengthened and guided to create a beautiful world.
